I have read many blogs on Central Finance from the experts but could not find much detailed information around the powerful steps that are required for the recording of real time replication data in Source system staging tables.

How does a source system know that it should start recording any FI transaction that is posted or changed?

There are 2 steps that trigger the source system recording:

  • Step 1: When we perform an Initial load the CFIN_MIG_LOG table gets updated with the details of the company code & the timestamp of execution in the source system, this is the first trigger for the source to activate recording of RTR and from the moment when this entry is created in CFIN_MIG_LOG table, the FI transactional data is stored in CFIN staging tables]
  • Step 2: The tiny flag in the CFIN_SOURCE_SET which is mentioned as a mandatory step in the initial load documentation has a very important role to play in the activation of RTR recording, however one might wonder if the step 1 mentioned above serves the purpose then why the additional step – Let me explain you why, for whatsoever/unforeseen reason if the entry in CFIN_MIG_LOG gets deleted for e.g. manual error during the cleanup of staging tables then this flag ensures that the RTR process is not hindered and continues to record any transactions/changes in source system.

In my next blog I will be writing about how to onboard a new company code to the scope CFIN RTR activation.
