I'm super excited to announce newest update which allow to easily uncover the person behind the photo or activity in your research area.
With just couple clicks, you are can get data about Flickr, Sportstracker, Vkontakte, Weibo, Wikiloc and Youtube users. For Strava, extract people that took specific path, Airbnb - Host and Guests, Instagram - Recent photos.
Moreover, new modules have been added - Craigslist, Eventbrite, Meetup, Ticketmaster, Wikiloc, Zillow and Sexual Offenders. Last one allows you to extract details like address and photos of registered offenders in United States.
All returned items contain timestamp, profile picture, URL and other necessary details to enhance your investigation.
If it's not enough, you can search in the database by Person or Item. It allows you to track all of your findings across all workspaces. Also, feature to bookmark interesting items has been added as well.
Newest, mentioned module allows you to search for sexual offenders in US, and as with previous modules, gather more information about the individual.
Couple more improvements have been added like breadcrumbs or highlighted area near marker for better visibility.
In this post, I will go through new features and explore how it's beneficial for your investigation.
Creating Open Source Surveillance, I assignee each project it's own internal codename and logo. This one was inspired by Lifelog project founded by Darpa
LifeLog aimed to compile a massive electronic database of every activity and relationship a person engages in. This was to include credit card purchases, web sites visited, the content of telephone calls and e-mails sent and received, scans of faxes and postal mail sent and received, instant messages sent and received, books and magazines read, television and radio selections, physical location recorded via wearable GPS sensors, biomedical data captured through wearable sensors. The high level goal of this data logging was to identify "preferences, plans, goals, and other markers of intentionality".[2]
This is Open Source version of it, which allows you to gather social media activity on specific territory for given user.
I will reveal more logos and projects soon.
First thing is to search for activity on the main search, what screenshot shows.
When you picked interesting finding, you can go to details
As you can see, new tile called "Author info" has appeared and allows to grab additional details about, in this case, Airbnb Host and Airbnb Guests.
Screenshot above presents results after information about People has been gathered. We can see profile picture, when account or review was created or link to the profile. This way, we obtained all necessary details about this particular Airbnb listing, including geolocation.
In many items view, you see now information about the author that you previously gathered.
For Instagram you can download recent photos and detailed information about the place.
For Strava, get people who took specific path.
At the end, easily search for person or item by keyword/module in given workspace.
New modules, will be introduced in next article, hopefully this month. You will be surprised what and where people are selling on Craigslist.
