App development is known for taking a lot of time and money, but those days may be over. Superflex, an AI-powered front-end development tool co-founded by Aibek Yegemberdin and Boris Jankovic, is transforming how people build software by allowing engineers to code ten times faster.
Superflex integrates with Visual Studio Code (VSCode), allowing engineers to generate front-end code directly from Figma designs, images, and text prompts. Its AI agent is optimized to follow existing design systems, coding styles, and UI components to generate accurate and efficient code. By leveraging smart indexing and advanced AI models, Superflex is able to build code that can be used without any refactoring.
Superflex can even take sketches or images from competitor sites and convert them into production-ready code in your app’s design style.
Aibek and Boris first connected through Y Combinator’s co-founder matching platform. Aibek has expertise in Product Management, has successfully led several B2B and B2C startups, and even launched an app in college that got over 100,000 users. Meanwhile, Boris brings extensive experience in developer tools, having served as a Founding Engineer at dev-tool startup Tenderly. He also created a VSCode extension that achieved over 250,000 installs.
Initially, they started working on an HR-tech idea called Sprout, until they found a problem that they wanted to solve for themselves. The duo was spending half their time in the front-end dealing with UI components and making things look pixel-perfect, so they tried to build internal solutions to speed up their own development.
“We just wanted to see if we could build Sprout faster, but once we saw what this AI could do and shared it with our friends, we knew that it had a lot of potential. And with our strong backgrounds in Product Management and Developer tools, we knew that we had the expertise to build and scale this if we wanted to,” said Yegemberdin.
This experimentation ended up resulting in a pivot from the HR-tech idea to Superflex.
Initially unveiled at the GitHub headquarters in San Francisco, Superflex quickly gained attention, securing three letters of intent from companies eager to integrate the tool into their development workflows. This early traction highlights the strong market demand and willingness to adopt AI code-generation tools.
Looking to the future, Superflex aims to extend its AI features beyond front-end development. Plans include enabling developers to chat with their codebases and expanding support to back-end development, ultimately creating a fully AI-driven development environment.
Superflex is not just a tool; it’s a catalyst for a new era in software development, empowering engineers to build apps faster and more efficiently than ever before.
